Experience hip and historic Oakland within the beauty of the Bay Area. Provocative speakers, programs, and special events will show you the positive results of change, from the small to the large, and give you ways to create changes in your own life and career.
The conference program committee received over 190 program submissions this year. Crowdsourcing emphasized innovative and dynamic topics; change is definitely in the air. Exciting preconference programs range from an advocacy program featuring our new State Librarian Greg Lucas to basic cataloging using RDA, to the 2015 Summer Reading’s Read to the Rhythm to virtual tutor training.
In addition to exciting sessions at the conference, you’ll experience the richness of the Bay Area with free tours of both the Book Club of California in San Francisco and the African American Museum and Library at Oakland. Downtown Oakland is a dynamic destination buzzing with restaurants, shops, hotels, entertainment, recreation, outdoor markets, and special events. And back at the conference, the CLA Silent Auction will be bigger and better than ever. Gifted colleagues will be feted! And oh yes, BattleDecks and the Talent Stage will be back!
